Route the Points Before the Clock Does
Program points matter more than pretty box scores here. Trevor Hoffman sits at 100 points, and the July 31 noon PT cutoff will arrive quicker than most people expect. Start with the 15,000 PXP mission because it pays 25 points and keeps moving in every game. Five wins add another 15, while 50 total bases give you 15 more. That leaves much less pressure on the smaller jobs. Keep one regular squad together, play clean innings, and let several objectives build at once instead of chasing one stat every match.
- Keep your strongest eligible hitters in the same starting lineup so PXP keeps stacking without wasted plate appearances.
- Chase five wins naturally, but do not sacrifice close games merely to force a single mission stat.
- Look for doubles and homers early, since total bases climb much faster when gaps are attacked.
A high overall card isn't automatically the right pick for this format. You need players who do something useful every time they touch the field. Put contact bats near the top, then place your heavy power options where runners can reach base ahead of them. One fast player is enough for the three stolen bases, provided you use him with a sensible count and a decent jump. On the mound, favour pitchers with movement and control. Strikeouts are nice, sure, but easy outs and fewer mistakes win more Event games.
- Use a quick runner with solid stealing ratings near the bottom, where a single can create an immediate attempt.
- Choose power hitters with pull-side pop, especially players comfortable turning inside fastballs into extra-base damage.
- Carry at least one starter or reliever whose breaking ball can finish at-bats when opponents start sitting fastball.
Make Hoffman the Reward, Not an Expensive Detour
Hoffman is worth the effort because a trusted late-inning arm changes how you play tight games. You can shorten contests, protect a one-run lead, and stop relying on whichever reliever happens to have energy. Still, don't empty your resources just to rush the program. First use the eligible cards you own, including lower-rated fillers if they fit the rules. Upgrade only the spots that are genuinely holding you back, such as a weak speed option or a pitcher you can't locate with. The reward should strengthen your club, not leave the rest of it thin.
- Save your best reliever for the final innings, where Hoffman-style closing value matters far more than early-game appearances.
- Use common Live Series fillers only when needed, then surround them with dependable Legends and Flashbacks you know well.
- Spend resources on a clear weakness, not on cards that look impressive but duplicate a role already covered.
Keep the route simple: PXP first, wins next, total bases after that, then clean up whatever remains. With a steady lineup and sensible spending on MLB 26 Stubs, Hoffman can be earned without turning the whole week into a grind.
